2014 Tor Cimarossa Vineyard 750ml
Tasting Notes: "Another high-elevation site for Tor Kenward is his 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Cimarossa Vineyard from a steep vineyard planted at a 2,100-foot elevation on Howell Mountain. This vineyard is often used in the Beringer Private Reserve program. This wine is one of the more backward of the 2014s, with high tannin, full body, loads of mulberry, graphite, licorice and blue and black fruits. It is rich and would probably benefit from several years of bottle age and keep for 25-30 years. Tor Kenward is using his vast experience in the wine industry and impressive palate to find exceptional terroirs and produce fascinating wines that merit serious attention. His winemaking guru is Jeff Ames, who makes his own wines under the Rudius label...Kenward has an impressive array of 2014 reds, all of them showing as well as, or better, than I had predicted in my range of scores last year. " - Robert Parker (93 Points)
Winemaker's Notes: The 2014 Cimarossa was fermented in a single closed top tank for 11 days. This is not a wine that we leave in tank for a long time. The general process is get it in tank, get it warm, and get it off the skins to avoid any of the drying tannins. This is pressed slightly sweet to its normal 100% new Darnajou barrels where it stays for 18-20 months before it is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
