FISHER VINEYARDS

Born into a family with historic ties to the auto industry, Fred J. Fisher turned his back on the Motor City and headed west to San Francisco to build something of his own. He fell in love with an investment analyst named Juelle Lamb, and together they purchased an old homestead ranch high in the Mayacamas Mountains of Sonoma County with the idea of making wine. They cleared and planted, and with the help of friend, architect and fellow wine enthusiast William Turnbull, they built a winery with timber cut and milled on site. In 1979, they introduced the world to Fisher Vineyards.

Since that initial release, the Fishers have added vineyards near Calistoga to grow Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes and divided their Sonoma mountain holdings into Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay. These diverse sources are the foundation for wines that express the unique terroir of individual vineyards as well as blends of exceptional complexity, harmony and balance. The second generation – Whitney, Robert and Cameron Fisher – now leads the business, which includes a new winery on the Napa Valley estate.
