CONTINUUM

Tracing the history of modern winemaking in the Napa Valley, you’ll soon find that all roads seem to lead back to Robert Mondavi. Scion of an already legendary winemaking family, Robert struck out on his own at the age of 53 in 1966, and helped to put the region on the map. Nowhere is the Mondavi connection more direct than the aptly named Continuum. Charting a history of reinvention with every generation, Continuum carries on this rich family history in wine – on a small scale at the very highest level. The winery was founded in 2005 by Tim Mondavi, also 53 at the time, and his sister Marcia, with their father, Robert, by their side. Carissa Mondavi and the fourth generation continue to carry on this proud commitment today.

As winegrower and co-proprietor, Tim oversees Continuum Estate on Pritchard Hill high above Oakville. Drawing on a lifetime of growing grapes, he tends to 42 small, individual blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot, shaping each vintage before a single grape has been crushed. Tim’s extensive history as winegrower, responsible for the wines of Robert Mondavi Company where he focused on the Reserve wines and Opus One in Napa Valley, as well as Luce in Italy and Seña in Chile, guides the singular focus of Continuum today. Carefully tended, hand-harvested fruit becomes a vibrant but harmoniously balanced blend that speaks not only of the beautiful estate from which it comes, but also of four generations of winemaking in Napa Valley.
