Riis Burwell
Burwell feels that "Geometry is the thread that holds nature together; entropy is the force that pulls nature apart". Working exclusively in abstract forms, he builds sculpture with an emphasis on the geometry found in nature. The compositions use the graceful juxtaposition of form and line to illustrate the tensions inherent in the growth and decay of all matter. With over 20 years of experience working with metal, he builds sculpture of impeccable craftsmanship. Born in Connecticut, Burwell received a BA in Fine Arts from Goddard College in Vermont. Widely exhibited and found in many private and public collections, he welcomes working with a client for site-specific work on any scale.
