Graham Moody

Graham Moody

Before attending Humbolt State University in Arcata, CA, Moody worked on the grounds crew at the University of Kansas, where he would gather scraps from construction and demolition sites and create assemblages and collages and give them away to friends. Even though he pursued an undergraduate degree in painting and a graduate degree in printmaking, he continued to enjoy the treasure hunt of found objects and eventually returned to creating collages - now incorporating watercolor and remnants of maps, musical scores and countless other components that are - by their arrangement - are transformed into something completely new and wonderful. He teaches art and writing to prisoners at Pelican Bay Prison in Crescent City, CA and has been exhibited both here on the West Coast and in France. He is represented in many private and public collections. In l987 he received an Artist’s Fellowship from the Pollack-Krasner Foundation and has recently been selected to hang his art in American Embassies in South American and Africa.
